This topic has been around for awhile however every time I eat a dish high in beans, chickpeas and lentils I get mild pain, irritation in my hands and feet. This is really frustrating because being on a vegetarian diet, I am trying to get enough protein. This is not supposed to bother me but it consistently does, anyone else notice this? Spinach and mushrooms for example seem ok.

Once I went off the allopurinol, the nearly constant 6 months of headaches including migraine auras stopped. The worsening heartburn also stopped within days although recovering from the allergic reaction from the generic tecta took several weeks to get rid of the hives, high histamine levels caused from that. 2 month in with no allopurinol, only mild foot and hand pain, cherry juice and celebrex are keeping things bearable. The side effects I experienced from the drugs were way worse than any gout attacks. The next step I guess is uloric however I am really reluctant to try it after the past experience with allopurinol and tecta. I have never had any allergies to anything before this experience, the extreme anxiety from the tecta was just terrible, never want to go through that again. When I Googled high histamine levels, every symptom was what I had from the allergic reaction. Gaviscon and zantac taken for months didn’t get rid of the acid reflux however the tecta did in 3 days. It took my system 3 plus weeks to get rid of the side effects however.

Poor circulation in my hands and feet all my life, they are always cold ,go numb easily in our cold winters, I wonder if this would be contributing to my having gout with normal uric acid levels and also all the side effects I got from allopurinol, am wondering if there is a connection? Anyone else ?

On allopurinol for 2 months now, dose up to 300 mg, have acid reflux with most foods in evening, gaviscon works on it. For 1st month had loss of appetite and loss of taste as well, that is mostly gone now. Still more tired than usual, hope that adjusts itself as well. Hope this drug helps because it has really been kicking my butt, will stick with it. I turned vegetarian a yr. ago after gout diagnosis and that has helped, at first lost abt. 8 lbs but since starting allopurinol have gained it back.

Uric acid levels given were when testing wasfirst done last winter and then in the fall, hasn’t been done since starting on allopurinol.Celebrex dose was 2 per day during initial attack and did same when starting on allopurinol but have been able to cut dose down without any additional pain, can’t cut it to nothing or sore, swollen toe returns. I have been tested for rheumatroidarthritis, toe has been x rayed, other blood work shows up good. Symptoms of pain, aching, pins and needles always showed up several hours after eating meat, especially beef in different joints of fingers, knees, feet, toe or ankles, usually a different joint, that has occurred for at least 10 yrs, just never made the connection to gout caused by what I was eating. My delay in starting allopurinol was because uric acid levels were relatively normal so I wondered how much actually taking the drug would help but I was told the only way to get the uric acid out of my joints was to use it.
Last winter when the gout symptoms got really bad for the first time even eating a small amount of beans, lentils, chickpeas etc. with amounts of vegetable purines in them would affect me. Eating anything sweet would cause symptoms in minutes although that does not seem to be bothering me now.Gaviscon works for the heartburn, hardly ever had it before this, am just hoping my system will get used to the allopurinol.

Re cherry extract, when I first started taking it, got very uncomfortable pain, pins and needles, tingling in random finger joints, feet and knees within a short time of taking it, so assume that showed it working to help clear uric acid out of joints. This only happened for a short period of time in the beginning, but
I still take it 8 months in. By the way, my uric acid tests , twice show normal levels below 5 mg/ dl. Total vegetarian diet and very little sugar have eliminated symptoms, as well as 1 celebrex anti inflammatory every 3 days.

Keep testing for uric acid levels?

    Uric acid level 5.7 mg/dl.
Symptoms keeping under control with one celebrex every 3 days, vegetarian diet and low sugar intake.
Canadian female, 145 lbs, 5 ft. 7, active.
Symptoms of random finger pain off and on, burning hot tingling feet, worst symptoms started after horse stepped on big toe, months of this till figured out it was gout, doc confirmed, much better with veg diet, no sugar, donโ€™t know where to go from here, try and control with diet, celebrex, curcumin cs, cherry concentrate.
Keep testing for uric acid levels?
